CAMP GOALS:
Our goal at Camp Legacy in Omaha, NE is to inspire young children through immersive outdoor experiences. We aim to foster curiosity, build confidence, and encourage teamwork, all while exploring what it is like to be a kid. The staff strives to create lasting memories in a fun, adventurous, and safe environment where campers can connect with nature and each other.

A TYPICAL DAY AT CAMP:
Each week, campers are divided into groups of 10-15 campers and assigned a Counselor and Jr. Counselor to guide them through their fun. There are set rotations that move the groups throughout the campus. Daily activities are determined based on the camper age groups and, at times, individual preferences. See the Day Camp Details Page for more info.

BEFORE YOUR FIRST DAY

DROP OFF AND PICK UP:

Campers are dropped off and picked up in the camp parking lot. Parents are asked to stay in their cars, as Camp Legacy uses a valet system.  For a quick pick up, please have your camper’s name written in large letters posted in the right-hand corner of your windshield. This helps us match campers to their cars. NOTE: Parents are not allowed in the building during drop off and pick up.

BEHAVIOR POLICY:

Camp Legacy reserves the right to dismiss a camper for the day, week, or entirety of the summer if he/she exhibits aggressive behaviors. We are dedicated to protecting the rights of our camp counselors and campers to ensure a safe, fun camp setting.

The Camp is also home to a barnyard and nature room. Campers will have the opportunity to interact with small barnyard and aquarium animals. Camp Legacy has a “Zero Tolerance” policy and campers are expected to treat all animals with kindness and respect.

For more details, please refer to The Camp Legacy Code of Conduct.

PACKING GUIDE:

Clothing: Dress casual, ready to move, have fun and get a little dirty

Footwear: Tennis shoes or closed-toed shoes are required – cowboy boots and flip flops are not allowed

Sunscreen: A first application should be done at home and a bottle for re-application should be brought every day

Water Bottle: Every camper is REQUIRED to have a water bottle each day – or they must purchase one from the Canteen

Water Days: For Upper Campers, they go to the pool every day so pack a swimsuit and towel. For Lower Campers, they have select water days so watch for when your scheduled day will be

Ponchos: Upper Campers should plan for rainy days, as we will stay outside unless there is lightning

Food: Camp does not provide meals, so campers need to pack their own lunch and snacks
Lower Campers and Kindergartners: These campers eat inside, so meals and snacks need to be peanut free
– Upper Campers 1-5th: These campers eat outside in the pavillion, however we provide a peanut-free table when necessary

What To Leave At Home: Campers are not to bring any unnecessary items to camp. Toys and trinkets from home get in the way of the camper’s ability to participate in camp activities. Leave all electronics at home – including cell phones. Camp Legacy is not responsible for lost or broken personal items.

HOW THE CANTEEN WORKS (UPPER CAMP K-5th ONLY):

The Canteen sells various snacks and drinks for $2/each to Upper Campers using a Canteen Account. Campers are allowed to purchase up to four items each day.

Canteen Account money can be placed in a Canteen envelope and dropped off at the front doors or the office in the mornings. The Canteen envelopes should be marked with the campers name on it, including any allergies. Canteen money is nonrefundable. Unused money can be used to purchase Camp Legacy gear or can be rolled over to the following summer. Parental permission is needed for campers to purchase t-shirts, sunscreen/bug spray, etc.

POOL DETAILS (UPPER CAMP ONLY):

Upper Campers visit the pools multiple times each day, so it is highly recommended that your camper knows how to swim prior to attending camp. If he or she cannot pass the swim evaluation on the first day, they will be required stay in a roped-off section of the shallow end for the entire week.

LATE PICK UP POLICY:

Please be on time to pick up your child. A late fee of $5.00 will be assessed if a parent is more than FIVE minutes late. Thereafter, every FIVE minutes will be an additional $10.
